Ministry of AYUSH recommendation for self care

General Measures.

1. Drink warm water through out the day.

Drinking atleast 2 to 3 liter of water is recommended through out the day, but in this crises, Ministry of AYUSH recommend to drink warm water through out the day as a precautionary measure.

Drinking warm water not only helps to fight against virus but also good for your stomach, as it helps to digest your food and for constitution.

2. Practice Yoga daily.

Daily practice of Yogasana, Pranayama and meditation for at least 30 minutes as advised by Ministry of AYUSH (#YOGAatHome #StayHome #StaySafe)

Any kind of exercise is good for our body, but practicing yoga has its own benefits. Yoga keeps your body in proper shape and prevents in any joint pains and more.

3. Use Spices in cooking.

Spices like Haldi (Turmeric), Jeera (Cumin), Dhaniya (Coriander) and

Lahsun (Garlic) are recommended in cooking. Spices in our kitchen has many medicinal properties,

Haldi/turmeric had curcumin in it. Garlic/lahsun which is good for many stomach related problems are all recommended to include in our day to day cooking.

 Ayurvedic Immunity Promoting Measures


Take Chyavanprash 10gm (1tsf) in the morning. Diabetics should take sugar-free Chyavanprash.

 Chyavanprash is a old and traditional medicine used by indians since centuries because of its Immunity boosting properties.

Chyavanprash is a combination of Amla (Indian gooseberry), Ashwagandha, cardamom, Giloy, Desi ghee, Clove, honey and many more. All this are proven ayurvedic ingridents which are verymuch helpful in building immunity. So AYUSH department recommends to take a teaspoon every day.

2.Drink herbal tea

Drink herbal tea / decoction (Kadha) made from Tulsi (Basil), Dalchini

(Cinnamon), Kalimirch (Black pepper), Shunthi (Dry Ginger) and Munakka

(Raisin) – once or twice a day. Add jaggery (natural sugar) and / or fresh

lemon juice to your taste, if needed.

3. Turmeric milk/Golden Milk

– Half tea spoon Haldi (turmeric) powder in 150 ml hot milk –

once or twice a day. Which naturally boosts our immunity. Milk is rich in Calcium and Turmeric is packed with Curcumin which is are very good combination when taken.

1.Nasal application

Apply sesame oil / coconut oil or Ghee in both the nostrils (Pratimarsh Nasya) in morning and evening.

2.Oil pulling therapy

Take 1 table spoon sesame or coconut oil in mouth. Do not drink, Swish in the mouth for 2 to 3 minutes and spit it off followed by warm water rinse. This can be done once or twice a day.

During dry cough / sore throat

1.Steam inhalation with fresh Pudina (Mint) leaves or Ajwain (Caraway seeds) can be practiced once in a day.

2.Lavang (Clove) powder mixed with natural sugar / honey can be taken 2-3 times a day in case of cough or throat irritation.

3.These measures generally treat normal dry cough and sore throat. However, it is best to consult doctors if these symptoms persist.
