Tulsi/Basil Benifits

Tulsi is also called as holy basil because it is consider as sacred plant by the hindus. Tulsi has been used for thousand of years in ayurveda. It has many medicinal properties. The leaves gives strength to stomach and it is also helps in respiratory diseases. Tulsi leaves are also called as anti stress agent, and also act as a tonic for the heart. Holy Basil or Tulsi contains vitamin C.


Benefits of Tulsi leaves

Regular consumption of tulsi may helps to lower blood pressure and it helps to reduce the risk of stroke,heart attack and other diseases regular consumption of tulsi may helps to better sleep.

If you start your day with having three to four leaves of tulsi on a empty stomach, it helps to purify your blood and it is also clean your internal systems of your body.

Tulsi leaves are used in the treatment of cough and cold:-

  • For cure cough and cold – Tulsi leaves, ginger,honey and black paper can cure the cold and cough.
  • For cure the dry cough – The Mixture of tulsi leaves ginger and onion juice helps to cure the dry cough.

Types of tulsi:-

  There are Ten main types in tulsi

Rama tulsi:

It also called as green leaf tulsi. It has green leafs and light purple flower.

Krishna tulsi:

It is also known as shyma tulsi or purple leafs tulsi. It has a purple leaf with a purple flower. This tulsi is often considered to be the most often benefit to health,

Vana tulsi:

It is also called as wild leaf tulsi. A Bright light tulsi green tulsi plant.It has a more lemony aroma and flower. s.

Amrita tulsi:

It looks like a mix od both Rama tulsi and krishna tulsi. It has a green leaves and stem color of purple. The combination of this two color looks beautiful, looks like someone painted in on a canvas. 

Cinnamon basil:

This basil is quite similar to the sweet basil in term of taste. This basil leaves are smaller in size. It has purple stem with green leaves.

Sweet basil:

This plant can be grow up to 12 to 18 inches tall. this plants are well grown in summer, and the color of the plant range from green to purple.

Lime/Lemon basil:

 This types of plants are grown well in both open garden and indoor situation. This plants leaves are used for garnishing the lemon ice tea and can also used in various salad’s. This lime basil leaves when dries can be used as a room freshener as it releases a sense of aroma that soothes the room atmosphere. Lime basil are also used to make hot tea.

Greek basil:

It is also known as little leaf basil because this plant leafs  are small and this leafs are close to sweet basil.

Lettuce basil:

It has a wrinkled leaves so this plant can be identified easily. This leaves are used for salad as  it taste similarly like sweet basil.

Thai basil:

 This plants has a Unique spicy flavor, It can grow up to  18 inches tall. This plant leaves is the largest leaves as compare to all the other, the leaves can grow up to 2-3 inches. this herb also used in many dishes to give it a healthy touch.
